Quick answer

Dress smart casual. The Baroque Hall is on the first floor with no lift, so you climb stairs. Drinks are ordered and paid for on the spot and are not in the ticket. Flash photography is not allowed, and vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dinners are available if you tell the organiser in advance.

Where to go

The restaurant is at Sankt-Peter-Bezirk 1, 5020 Salzburg, in the old town and to the right of St. Peter's church. The organiser asks you to meet on the upper floor. It recommends public transport so that you can stroll through the Old Town on the way, and says parking is possible in a nearby garage. Leave extra time, because you climb the stairs to the upper floor and find your table before the music starts.

Arrive before the start

Your date's start time is in the confirmation email. The organiser asks guests to be at the restaurant ahead of it, with admission to the hall opening before the concert, so arriving early also leaves time for the stairs and for finding your table before the music begins.

What to wear

The dress code is smart casual, and the organiser asks guests to dress appropriately. In practice that means a shirt or blouse rather than sportswear, and shoes that suit a restaurant. The entrance passage is cobbled, so flat shoes are easier than heels. The room is candlelit and Baroque in style, so a jacket or a smart dress sits comfortably in it, and nobody expects evening wear. Smart casual does not call for evening wear.

The stairs

The Baroque Hall is on the first floor and the building has no lift. Helpers carry wheelchair users up the stairs, but the organiser says access cannot be guaranteed in every case. If you or a companion cannot manage stairs, write to the organiser before booking and wait for a reply. The restaurant's own website lists a table-only booking, which is a way to see the house if the stairs rule out the hall.

Drinks and the bill

Drinks are ordered and paid for on the spot. The organiser notes that prices for wine and other drinks follow a high level of gastronomy, so ask for the list and check glass sizes before you order. Setting a drinks figure beforehand keeps the evening from ending with a surprise. Because the bill is settled at the table, split it before you leave the room rather than afterwards.

Seats and tables

Tables seat between two and eight guests, and you are placed according to the seat category you chose when you booked. The organiser warns that some seats may not face the stage. You are welcome to turn your chair round for the concert, so a seat with its back to the stage is not a lost seat. Choose a category by what its description on the booking page promises, and book every seat in your party in the same category.

Photographs, filming and diets

Flash photography is not allowed. The organiser films and photographs the event and offers the material to guests afterwards. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dinners are available if the organiser is told in advance, so mention yours through the booking before the date. If you have allergies as well as a dietary preference, say so in the same message.
